1. Blood donation Camp:
The event was held over a span of 2 days (Aug 1-2) at the Health centre in association with
KGMU staff and Akanksha foundation. It witnessed a diverse bunch of students; a few of who donated blood for the very first time, while others who have been regular donors.
What stood out remarkably was that the entire student body was motivated by a keen desire to save lives.
It was only because of our brave heroes that we were able to collect 107 units of blood from 124 people who turned up the blood donation camp.
2. Orphanage Visit on Independence day:
On the occasion of Independence day, Team Bhavishya successfully organised a visit to the girl’s orphanage – Rajkiya Balgrih, Balika in Motinagar. The child care centre consisted of about 60 girls from ages 8 -18. It was a fun-filled day where the kids participated in events such as dancing, singing, drawing and games. The Bhavishya team members were taught dance on Bollywood songs by the girls. The volunteers participated along with the children and assisted them in completing their paintings. We were exhilarated by the immense showcase of the talent by the kids. In the end all the girls were given prizes and momentos by the volunteers. It was a sensitizing visit for the students which left them with some valuable memories to cherish.
3. Saidapur Village development:
As part of our continued efforts to help the village prosper, Bhavishya team recently put up new benches and chairs at the village school. The new classrooms were opened for the kids from 16th August morning. It was really great to see the joy on their faces when they saw the new benches in their classes. Sushil Kumar Sir visited the school for the opening as the chief guest. He personally interacted with the students sharing some valuable experiences and talked with the school principal to understand the major pain points.
Most importantly, the entire budget for this activity was taken from the money collected in Harmony Cup 2016. It was from the donations received last year from the student body, that we managed to carry out this initiative.
