The Bhavishya Committee of the Indian institute of Management, Lucknow in partnership with the KGMC Blood Bank and Akanksha NGO organised a two day blood donation camp (August 03-04, 2016) here at the campus Health Center.

The two-day camp witnessed highest ever footfall of 180 with active participation from student community, staff and faculty. The KGMC Blood Bank team comprised 16 personnel and a blood donation van with a capacity of 5 donations at a time. The total number of units collected were 136 – 73 on day 1 and 63 on day 2. With this tally, IIM L bettered its own record of 96 units. Prof. Jabir Ali and Prof. Pushpendra Priyadarshi also joined the camp to motivate students to make contribution to the society. The camp saw unprecedented participation from the RMO, Shri. SP Singh and Smt. Rekha Pathak, a local villager. The refreshments were jointly arranged by KGMC and Akanksha.

The donated blood will aid transfusions to patients affected by leukaemia and thalassemia, an inherited autosomal recessive blood disorder that causes weakening and destruction of red blood cells.

The enthusiasm shown by Bhavishya and the heartening response of students has necessitated the need for more such camps in the campus. The Committee is planning to schedule its next drive in the month of December.
